Frequently Asked Questions

Why do AirtimeBA practitioners need to be certified coaches (or have equivalent experience)?

AirtimeBA gives you data — it doesn’t tell you what to do with it. Turning an observation like “this person interrupted six times” or “this team asked very few open questions” into a meaningful, safe, and productive conversation with a client takes real coaching skill – the ability to explore and pull out. That’s the part we don’t teach in Passport to AirtimeBA — we assume you’re bringing it with you.

A certified coaching background (or equivalent hands-on experience facilitating groups and group coaching) means you already know how to hold space for what the group experienced and what data surfaces, especially when it touches on sensitive dynamics within a team. AirtimeBA is designed to sharpen and amplify the coaching you already do — not to replace the skill of coaching itself.

No worries — we’ve got you covered. The course is designed for practitioners who have client deliveries and meetings of their own during our 8 weeks together (plus a Calibration week). If you miss a live session, you can catch up via recording. It’s not quite the same as working through the material live — there’s nothing better than that — but it’s a close second, and with a bit of discipline, you can absolutely make it up afterward.

Plan on about 40 hours total to include in session time and independent practice time. That includes your Monday and Wednesday class time, plus an additional 2 hours per week of independent practice. Practice is light at the start and increases as you go — and that practice time is where you’ll really see your growth. You’ll understand the material faster, retain it better, and have a stronger overall experience the more you practice.

It depends on what you want to do with it. Completing the 8-week course and its practices prepares you to coach with the data, and to consult — designing and deploying an AirtimeBA event with a client.

If you want to code — capturing behavioral data live and generating reports — you’ll need to demonstrate proficiency and that is assessed during week 9 (Calibration session). Support is available throughout the course to help you reach the proficiency level you desire.

Learning to code and coach AirtimeBA is a lifelong endeavor — your skills only get sharper with time and attention.

The investment is $2,500.  There is no subscription or membership required after the skill preparation.

  • Educator discount: if you’re in public or private education, reach out to joycehartpence@airtimeba.com to talk about a possible discount.
  • Payment plans: contact joycehartpence@airtimeba.com to explore options.
  • Channel Partner discount: reach out to alexwalker@airtimeba.com to find out more about a discounts sponsored by Channel Partners who use AirtimeBA data in their design and delivery.

We strive to help you recoup your investment within 1–2 paid events that you lead. How quickly you recoup your investment largely comes down to your half-day prep-and-facilitation fees plus your desire to design and adopt the methodology immediately following completion of the Passport to AirtimeBA.  We’ll cover design and pricing strategy as part of the program itself.

Yes and no. You’ll be added to our list of practitioners and included in our database — so if a client or channel partner is looking for someone in a particular area, we can search and share names. That said, we don’t market or sell AirtimeBA directly; you are the channel to your client.

What we do offer is consulting support, coaching, and a Community of Practice to help you at every point along the way. Our hope is that every practitioner adopts the AirtimeBA methodology into the work they’re already doing — as a standalone offering or as an augmentation. For example, one practitioner used AirtimeBA to complement an executive sales leadership team’s existing work with “Getting to Yes,” layering behavioral data on top of a framework they already valued.

Once you complete Passport to AirtimeBA, you’re welcomed into the Community of Practice, which includes:

  • A global community of professionals also interested in practicing together
  • A monthly, 1-hour formal Community of Practice meeting
  • A monthly, 2-hour Open Practice Session to keep honing your coding skills
  • Additional ad hoc sessions, offered as needed to further advance community capability

Sessions are recorded, with summaries provided, and you’ll have ongoing access to practitioners for 1:1 and small-group conversations to work through ideas. Learning to code and coach AirtimeBA is a lifelong endeavor — your observation skills only deepen with time, attention, and practice.

“The more I use airtime the more I see the quality of my observation of group behavior improves, especially, in noticing micro-behaviors. This means I am much more versatile with groups and marketable as a practitioner.” – Andre Kotze, Founder
